Why do I spend my time on the internet

I stood today and wondered why do I spend my time on the Internet. Bottom line is: because I enjoy it. Here is something of what I do on the internet and why:

- I don’t watch TV anymore because I can watch whatever I want on the internet by web TV. Besides, the news is always commented on some blog or forum, so I get different objective and also subjective opinions. Read the rest of this entry »

Quality versus quantity

That’s the everlasting question, even for websites visitors. What are you looking for in your blog or website? Quality visitors or the quantity of them? My opinion? Both! there is a company -
MRPwebmedia that guides one to the quality (by that they understand flash and media). But I ask you this: what will happen after people will have watched all the movies on your site? They will fly away from your site just as they came. What will people do after they have visited a blog they like? They will subscribe to news letters and return regularly. Now that should be quality and in time even quantity. Quality articles will do for people what will do for search engines too. So, there you go, shoot 2 rabbits with one bullet. My humble opinion.

Web TV for free.

Recently while autosurfing, I came across many sites promising Web TV for as little as 29.99$. But if you would have to pay for it, what’s the use of Internet anyway? So, first I’ll tell you the advantages of Web TV:
Video on Demand (VoD) - will let you browse a movie catalog and watch the movie or prerecordet program that you want to watch.
Interactivity - An IP-based platform allows significant opportunities to make the TV viewing experience more interactive and personalized.
Converged Services - Another advantage of an IP-based network is the integration and convergence. Converged services means interaction of existing services in a seamless manner to create new added value services. One good example is On-Screen Caller ID, getting Caller ID on your TV and the ability to handle it.

There are also downsides of it like the fact that IPTV is sensitive to packet loss and delays if the IPTV connection is not fast enough.

To get going, here’s the a list of Places To Watch TV For Free Online:

Is your blog Web 2.0 ready?

Yesterday I saw on my favorite forum a topic that had this title: “Is my blog web 2.0 ready?“. And everybody has come up with answers like: look at this site, it has a web 2.0 compatibility calculator, and so on. I started to laugh. Nobody has even cared to dig in the problem, and find out what is actually Web 2.0. I was laughing with tears. Than I posted a reply “Your blog is the Web 2.0“. Web 2.0 is all about blogging, wikis, and something about the programming language Ajax. Web founder Tim Berners-Lee himself when asked that it is correct to say that Web 2.0 is about connecting people while Web 1.0 is about connecting computer, replied that “connecting people” was the scope of the internet all along while “Web 2.0 is of course a piece of jargon, nobody even knows what it means”. So, there you have-it: Web 2.0 is just a slogan and has no definition. Its just a brand made up by marketers for selling better on the internet.
Lets hope that the Web 3.0 will be something different!

Google Pay-Per-Action

Google offers a new advertising option: Pay-Per-Action. Rumors has it that this will be the end of Pay Per Click (PPC). Imagine that! Pay-Per-Action (PPA) was here long before google implemented it. The share of the advertising market is pretty low so far for it. And maybe advertisers will be glad to choose this kind of advertising, but think again, if you would be a publisher, would you be able to loose a share of your revenue just to implement a PPA campaign on your sites if this would be the case?
So, maybe the advertiser are glad that google offers them this new way of advertising but the response from the publishers will be less optimistic. We will just have to wait and see, but from my point of view PPA should offer no threat to PPC.
