My Reflections

My Reflections on things that I do and see on the Internet

Is your blog Web 2.0 ready?

Yesterday I saw on my favorite forum a topic that had this title: “Is my blog web 2.0 ready?“. And everybody has come up with answers like: look at this site, it has a web 2.0 compatibility calculator, and so on. I started to laugh. Nobody has even cared to dig in the problem, and find out what is actually Web 2.0. I was laughing with tears. Than I posted a reply “Your blog is the Web 2.0“. Web 2.0 is all about blogging, wikis, and something about the programming language Ajax. Web founder Tim Berners-Lee himself when asked that it is correct to say that Web 2.0 is about connecting people while Web 1.0 is about connecting computer, replied that “connecting people” was the scope of the internet all along while “Web 2.0 is of course a piece of jargon, nobody even knows what it means”. So, there you have-it: Web 2.0 is just a slogan and has no definition. Its just a brand made up by marketers for selling better on the internet.
Lets hope that the Web 3.0 will be something different!

I am being sued!

Yes, sadly I am being sued by my ex-employer because I have quited my job before the end of my term. I have signed an additional act that it seems pretty illegal to me and the lawyers that I have asked. In this act it states that if I quit my job before working for him for 5 years I have to pay my employer 5000 Euros. But for what? He did not invest in me a single cent, or for my professional preparation. But as stubborn as he is, he will not let me without a court fight.

My opinion: let him have it!

Google Pay-Per-Action

Google offers a new advertising option: Pay-Per-Action. Rumors has it that this will be the end of Pay Per Click (PPC). Imagine that! Pay-Per-Action (PPA) was here long before google implemented it. The share of the advertising market is pretty low so far for it. And maybe advertisers will be glad to choose this kind of advertising, but think again, if you would be a publisher, would you be able to loose a share of your revenue just to implement a PPA campaign on your sites if this would be the case?
So, maybe the advertiser are glad that google offers them this new way of advertising but the response from the publishers will be less optimistic. We will just have to wait and see, but from my point of view PPA should offer no threat to PPC.

Free e-books

I just found a site that gives you access to hundreds of free e-books. You can check out this free e-books here. It’s nice to know that knowledge and internet is for free. So, if you are looking for e-books from the programming to the general stuff domain, this is the place to go.

The way to stay in touch with the news

I have found the optimal way to stay in touch with what’s new on the internet: watch the damn autosurf window! Pay attention to it and soon you will know what people are joining, what they are promoting, where they spend their time on the internet, what’s their affiliate program, or what’s their new site that they want to promote. Lately I’ve been trying to find the best autosurf where I could invest some money, so I joined the first autosurf that came in my hands, joined as a free member and watched the sites rolling trough my eyes. Chose the best of them of course, after just 30 minutes of watching. Hope I made the wright choice. Anyway, in the meantime I was entertained by many sites from all the categories that you could find on the internet. Next time you join one of them, be sure you watch that window carefully.

Taking the internet back

Recently I came across a new concept: taking the internet back. And by this I mean 2 sites that promises just that. Users can take the internet back where it belongs: to the users.

Reflecting a bit upon the idea, it seemed to me that joining this 2 sites : - agloco.com and - taketheinternetback.com, I will control a more part of the internet than just my blog. But to my disgust, it was all back to making money. I mean come on! Is the internet resuming just to making and spending money? I doubt it so much. I am really glad when I open my browser and google after some information that I can’t find in my books, or some story from someone with more experience than me. That is what the internet is out there for. I mean, who in this world is opening his/her browser just to spend his/her money today? I am a pretender to the moneymaking business on the internet but I can assure you that more money can be made in the real world than on the internet. And people spend more money in the mall, then on the internet.

So, next time someone pretends to give the internet back to it’s users, I hope it’s a cheaper ISP that offers it’s services for free.

Slashmysearch - Search ‘N Earn Program

I’m glad to share with you the proof of payment for one of the early registered members of the less known program called SlashMySearch. You have a great chance that you haven’t heard about this search and earn program but after I have tried it for a couple of weeks now, without much of an interest, I have seen this proof of payment in the forum:

Slashmysearch -payment proof

So, what is this program after all? The user signs up, and uses this search engine as regular as it uses his normal search engine. For this he is earning money witch are gathered in his/her account. Also the activity within the account and the forum are remunerated. When the user reaches the 50$ cash balance he can request payout via Check or PayPal. Easy money, isn’t it?
